Stone Sour To Begin Recording New Album

Stone Sour have announced through their Twitter page that they will enter the studio March 15 to begin recording their third album. The band will enlist the help of producer Nick Raskulinecz, who has worked with such bands as the Foo Fighters and Velvet Revolver, and also produced Stone Sour's last disc, 2006's Come What(Ever) May. "Finally got the green light to go into the studio! March 15th it begins!!!" the band tweeted over the weekend.

Linkin Park Offering Live Bootlegs

Linkin Park have announced that they will release 100 live bootlegs recorded at shows between 2007 and 2009. The new series, dubbed LP Archives: Official Tour Bootlegs, is available now for Linkin Park fan club members, with a public release coming on March 17. The shows are $9.99 each and the group is offering several special deals, including a "buy 5 get the 6th free" offer and special rates for fan club members.

Auditions Being Held For New Smashing Pumpkins Bassist And Keyboardist

Smashing Pumpkins lead singer Billy Corgan is holding auditions for a new bassist and keyboardist to round out the band's lineup. On Tuesday, Corgan announced that bassist Ginger Pooley was leaving the band to spend time with her new family and that he would hold open auditions to replace her. Mark Tulin of the Electric Prunes will reportedly fill in for the band's upcoming world tour until Pooley's replacement is found.

Jimi Hendrix To Play Glastonbury Festival In New Film

The late Jimi Hendrix, whose new album, Valleys of Neptune, hit store shelves today, will also play the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in a new short film. The project was created by film maker Julien Temple to fulfill a fantasy of his, according to the Sun. The combination of Glastonbury fans and footage of Hendrix onstage will give the appearance of the legendary guitarist actually performing at the festival.

Pink Floyd To Get Their Own Stamp

The U.K.'s Royal Mail is working with Pink Floyd to create a souvenir stamp that will feature the artwork from the band's classic 1994 album, The Division Bell. "It's the first time Royal Mail has worked with a major rock band to produce a product of this kind, and reflects the band's enormous global impact over more than four decades," said Royal Mail's Julietta Edgar, according to The Rock Radio. The stamp was unveiled on March 6.

Beastie Boys Hold Hot Sauce, Give Yauch More Time

The Beastie Boys will continue to hold off on the release of their new album, Hot Sauce Committee Pt. 1, to give Adam "MCA" Yauch more time to recover from his recent bout with cancer. The group canceled a string of tour dates, including headlining spots at the Austin City Limits and All Points West festivals last July after Yauch revealed that he would need surgery to remove cancerous cells in his throat.

Radiohead Denies New Album Details

A Radiohead spokesperson has denied the validity of an e-mail circulating with details about the band's upcoming album. According to the e-mail, the group's forthcoming offering will be called Tehrangeles and will include tracks titled "The Daily Mail," "Give Up the Ghost" and "Supercollider." In an official statement to the U.K.'s NME, however, Radiohead's spokesperson said of the e-mail, "Most of it is made up and there is no album or album title."

Morello To Help Score Iron Man 2

Tom Morello will reportedly help score the soundtrack of Iron Man 2. The upcoming film, which is expected to hit theaters May 7, is said to have a heavy metal feel to it. "Is that really me in Iron Man? Of course," reads a message on Morello's Twitter page. "I'm working on score for Iron Man 2. Rockin. Movie is awesome." Morello has previously been a part of the soundtracks for Spider-Man and Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
