The exhibit, called "The Grateful Dead: Now Playing at the New-York Historical Society," features Dead-related items such as photographs, T-shirts and posters. "This exhibition not only celebrates the band's relationship with New York but its tremendous impact on American culture," Dr. Louise Mirrer, the New-York Historical Society's CEO and president, said in a press release.
Lennon Biopic Headed To DVDNowhere Boy, the biopic film about the life of John Lennon, is headed to DVD on May 10. The new DVD and Blu-ray disc release will include special features, such as commentary from director Sam Taylor-Wood, as well as interviews, deleted scenes and two featurettes titled Lennon's Liverpool and The Re-creation of the Quarrymen. The film recently earned several nominations at the British Association of Film and Television Awards.
Jimi Hendrix To Play Glastonbury Festival In New FilmThe late Jimi Hendrix, whose new album, Valleys of Neptune, hit store shelves today, will also play the Pyramid Stage at the Glastonbury Festival in a new short film. The project was created by film maker Julien Temple to fulfill a fantasy of his, according to the Sun. The combination of Glastonbury fans and footage of Hendrix onstage will give the appearance of the legendary guitarist actually performing at the festival.
Pink Floyd To Get Their Own StampThe U.K.'s Royal Mail is working with Pink Floyd to create a souvenir stamp that will feature the artwork from the band's classic 1994 album, The Division Bell. "It's the first time Royal Mail has worked with a major rock band to produce a product of this kind, and reflects the band's enormous global impact over more than four decades," said Royal Mail's Julietta Edgar, according to The Rock Radio. The stamp was unveiled on March 6.
