Slash has revealed through his MySpace page that Alter Bridge singer Myles Kennedy will join his band as the lead singer for its upcoming tour. "I want to announce that Myles Kennedy is going to be fronting the band for the upcoming tour. Something I'm really stoked about," the former Guns N' Roses and Velvet Revolver guitarist said. Slash and Kennedy recently worked together on Slash's upcoming self-titled album on a track titled "Starlight."

Other special guests on Slash's album include Iggy Pop, Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Alice Cooper and Kid Rock, among others.

As far as who will join the two on the road, Slash indicated that he will "announce the other band members shortly."

Simon Cowell and a bevy of stars have released a promotional video for their charity recording of R.E.M.'s 1992 hit, "Everybody Hurts." The song was recorded to support the Haitian relief effort. The video features footage of such stars as Miley Cyrus and Mariah Carey in the studio recording the song, as well as footage from Haiti. The single was officially released for download through iTunes over the weekend. The video is currently streaming on YouTube.

The Beatles will soon receive a tribute from Roberta Flack, who is planning to release an album of their songs. The "Killing Me Softly" singer, who once lived above John Lennon and Yoko Ono in New York, told Spinner about the project and her progress. "(It's) all Beatles covers," she said. "They did 1,088 songs, so I'm gonna do about 14 of them." The album, which will be released on April 21, has yet to be given a title.

"Somebody said call it Let It Be, Roberta Flack, Let It Be or Roberta Does the Beatles. All of that is so commercial, I can't think about that. I'm too busy trying to figure out if I can sing 'Oh Darling,'" Flack said.

The new disc will be Flack's 13th solo studio album.

Yoko Ono and her Plastic Ono Band have responded to the sold out demand for their upcoming performance at Brooklyn Academy of Music's Gilman Opera House by scheduling a "dress rehearsal" show. The rehearsal show will be held on February 15 and will feature Ono and her core band, composed of Sean Lennon, Yuka Honda and Cornelius (Keigo Oyamada, Hirotaka Shimizu and Yuko Araki).

Ono's latest album, Between My Head and the Sky, was released in late September and has received four and five-star reviews from publications including Rolling Stone, Q, NME, Pitchfork and others.

Frontman Steven Tyler is still a part of Aerosmith, according to guitarist Joe Perry, even though the band is looking for a new singer. "Steven hasn't quit the band, nor have we sacked him," Perry told the U.K.'s Classic Rock magazine. "We're taking the attitude that he's going on a vacation from Aerosmith." "How long will (sic) Steven be away? He says it'll be two years, but I believe he'll be back a lot sooner," Perry said.

AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson thinks that doing charity work is great, but feels that you shouldn't preach about it every chance you get, like Bob Geldof and U2's Bono have a habit of doing. "When I was a working man, I didn't want to go to a concert for some bastard to talk down to me that I should be thinking of some kid in Africa," Johnson told Australia's Herald Sun. "I'm sorry, mate, do it yourself, spend some of your own money and get it done."

Johnson and his band have stayed away from the charity spotlight ever since 1985's Live Aid benefit concert. He says that while AC/DC is not against performing at charity shows, he just wouldn't want it to be on a worldwide stage.
